New! UFO Sightings Map

  • Post comments:12 Comments

A new interactive global map has been added to our site, which can be accessed from the Map link in the main menu. The map makes it easy to explore sightings within any geographic area. You can click on the individual markers to view the details of the cases at that location. Markers colored in bright green indicate locations that have sightings that have occurred within the last year.

As NUFORC is a US based organization, the map clearly shows that most of our sighting reports come from the United States, with the United Kingdom and the Netherlands next in line. It is also apparent that UFOs are seen literally everywhere, and that the distribution of sighting reports closely matches the distribution of the population.

This is version 1.0 of the map, and we plan on adding additional features in future releases. Let us know in the comments below if there are any features you would particularly like to see.

It’s particularly interesting to me, as I have been studying the potential geographical significance of UFO sightings since the 1970s. Recently, I have explored Donald Johnson’s idea of considering all low-altitude sightings from a UFO wave, rather than analyzing them day by day as Aime Michel did. The results were positive, but not outstanding. I compared the results from the 1954 wave of 130 sightings with the same coordinates, each altered by 1° in latitude, and noticed a decrease in significant findings. I apologize if my English isn’t perfect. I also recently sent you my Chilean and South American catalogs.

I can’t believe what a great resource this map is, and all the hard work that must have gone into making it! Wow.

The map is awesome! Looks very strange the US and southern UK are lit up! I am guessing a lot of overseas sightings never get reported. Very interesting.

This map is an excellent tool for assessing the geographic distribution and concentration of reported UFO sightings across the globe. It seems the U.S., U.K., Canada, and the Netherlands have been major hotspots of activity. I’m looking forward to combing through and reading the submissions, both past and present, from my area. Thanks for putting this together!

wow love this new interactive map, great for research. Loving the website too!

I found some of the dots in cities can have over 20 sightings under them wow! Imagine how many more are not reported, not seen do to bad weather or late night, oh also overseas sightings not reported! I reported two 55 years apart.

The reason that the US is lit up end parts of Europe are because data is shared about the subject between research groups like Mufon. The reasoning behind Russia? And China? Not showing as many blips is due to them not sharing data with the rest of the community. I truly believe that this is a world problem in that the world needs to come to terms of forgiveness and move our species to the next level. The Universal Principle should serve as the GLOBAL LEGISLATION! It’s quite simple, just treat others as you wish to be treated! Unveiling truths should not be dismissed as mere conspiracy theories. Rather, it is our very way of life that should be questioned as the ultimate conspiracy theory.

Actually, the data mapped is solely from reports submitted directly to NUFORC. MUFON cases are not included.

Back in the mid-sixties I had an experience where a car following me too closely on the highway disappeared while we were going 62 mph. Have you ever had a report like this? I’m 84 now, and this still bugs me. I didn’t tell about it for over 40 years.

We live a few hundred meters from the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany. And I’m quite surprised that not a single sighting is marked on the map. We have the air force and navy here, a HAARP facility and the Leibniz Institute for Atmospheric Physics, which also has its own small HAARP facility. There have been several sightings here and in the country, the most notable was probably a Greifswald light.

I found a site with the ufo map of USA and other countries where sightings have been reported, I found it so interesting that I kept the page open on my phone (since I couldn’t figure out how to get it to bookmark). Sadly I inadvertently closed the page and haven’t found it since online or in my history.
This map is an interesting tool buy is much more limited. I went to PA listing of reports and the entire list was for Williamsport, am I searching wrong? Thank you for your help.

Each point on the map represents a specific location, and there are hundreds of points in PA. As most reports only supply a city and state for a location each city tends to have a cluster on the map.
