Location details: In the air directly over my house. Rural. Clear, beautiful summer night.

Shape: Triangle
Characteristics: Lights on object

Curved wing/possibly triangular craft, row of strobing white lights, silent, slow glide.

As a regular stargazer/skywatcher and night owl, I was up very late at night, about 2 am, and had stepped out onto the porch to look for meteorites. The sky has minimal light pollution where I live, in Maine, and it's a wonderful area for night sky viewing. This was a beautiful, clear summer evening and the stars were incredibly bright, no moon. I caught a flash of light out of the corner of my eye and immediately turned toward it. Flying over the roof of my barn, directly toward my position, about 20-40 yards altitude max, was what appeared to be a curved wing craft, possibly triangular, with a row of white lights at the front that strobed incredibly brightly in series of 2 flashes, a pause, then 2 flashes, repeatedly. There were about 9 lights. The lights were so bright when they flashed that they were dilating my pupils, making it difficult to perceive surface details of the object, or whether it was a curved wing or triangle. It was completely silent, no propellers, no exhaust, nothing. This struck me immediately as anomalous. It was gliding so slowly that it would not have been able to keep itself aloft if it were a typical propulsion-based aircraft. I was transfixed and could not look away. I knew immediately that it was like nothing I'd ever seen in the sky before, and it was unbelievably close; I could have hit it with a slingshot. I'd estimate the size at about 40 feet across. It continued in a straight line with a S/SSE heading. I watched it as it gently glided overhead, until it eventually passed over the treeline and out of view. I stood there for a while, completely dumbfounded at what had just happened. My first inclination was that perhaps it was some type of electric glider that maybe the forestry service was using, or perhaps law enforcement for scanning for illegal cannabis grows, or something along those lines. I've spent the last year researching and looking for something that fit what I saw and I've come up empty-handed. I live just a couple of miles from the Howe & Howe facility, but have ruled that out in my conversations with individuals with knowledge about that. I haven't spoken to anyone about the details of this experience, except for my son, because I know what the reaction would be. This was before all of the recent news coverage around UFOs/UAPs. This is not the first time I've seen something anomalous, but it is the first time that I've seen something so up close as to be irrefutable. I think about it frequently. I truly felt that it saw me, even if unmanned... it was eerie. I wish I'd had a camera on my person, but there was no way I would have run inside to grab one and miss what I was witnessing. I didn't even think of it until after, I was paralyzed with astonishment and my mind just went blank. It was both wondrous and terrifying.
