extremely bright flash of light, lighting up sky in front of me and my wife with no clouds or thunder or sound

me and my wife went to walk my dog at approximately 21:50 because she was barking uncontrollably when we got around the corner of our house an while approaching the neighborhood park the whole sky in front of us lit up for around threel seconds. Warm night with no over cast or clouds. Would compare brightness to a flash of lightning with out lightning or any sound.
