While driving, a giant, bright neon green fireball/sphere shape w/irregular edges flew downward from the sky south to north

On Thursday, September 14 at approximately 11:55 pm while I was headed home, I was driving west on Butterfield Road right before crossing Naperville Road in Wheaton when I witnessed a giant, neon green fireball/sphere-like object with irregular/jagged edges leaving a long trail of green behind it flying angled downward from the sky traveling south to north - right behind/above a stripmall where TJ Maxx and other stores are.

I had my windows rolled up, but didn’t hear any sound.

It disappeared behind the buildings and I couldn’t tell how close it was, but it seemed like it was right in the sky in front of me up ahead.

I heard no sound of impact.

The whole event was only a few seconds as it traveled extremely fast.

It was the most surreal and bizarre thing I’ve ever seen.

Only 1 other car was driving next to me at the time with no others on the road.
