Orange ball of light in the sky.

I am a local person to the area I live in and always have been. I grew up in the countryside, so to speak and have never seen anything as unusual as this sighting I am reporting to you. To my huge regret I did not record the date and time of the sighting, but it was some time over the festive period of 2010/2011. I am not claiming to have seen an Alien spacecraft, I just cannot identify what I saw in the sky that day.

An orange ball of light, which is the only way I can describe this thing, appeared above the rooftops of the houses, which are bungalows, on the opposite side of my street and continued, at a steady pace of about 35/45 mph, to travel in a north, north west direction and over the rooftops of the houses of my street. This ball of light was travelling at the height of about 3, 2story houses, and was about 8 houses away from me, so not very far at all. It was completely silent to my surprise, as I was waiting for a roar of an engine, but there wasn't one, I could just here the birds tweeting and the odd car engine in the distance from the streets beyond. It was broad daylight, there were a few clouds in the sky and so it was very clear to me where the spherical object was and how big it was. If you were to draw a circle around a helicopter, including the props, that is probably how big it was, it seemed to be travelling at about the same speed as you would see a helicopter t! ravelling and in a very straight line.

This orange ball of light was like nothing I have ever seen before and probably never will again, although I eagerly await its return. Since I saw this I have become quite obsessed with watching the sky whenever I can and watching relevant programs on T.V. I have also been keeping my camera with me, at the ready, where ever I go.

I can say that I have become a believer, so to speak, in that there is something happening or going on that the majority of people are unaware of.

I just happened to be standing, outside my back door, having a cigarette and there it was right in front of my eyes for many seconds. I was then, still now and always will be 100% sure of what I saw. This changed the way I think about related issues. Unfortunately, the naivety of people in general prevents most of them from understanding and believing you because they have not seen to believe. Not that I blame them for that but for example, some suggestions to explain my sighting have been, a Chinese lantern or several of these tied together. Or because I likened my sighting to a helicopter in size, someone said "couldn't it have been a helicopter", please.

I can also report that my mother, who lives in a nearby valley, has seen a large, cigar shaped object, hovering outside one of her neighbours houses on the opposite side of the valley, as if it was looking into the house through the windows. She observed the object for several minutes, then decided to rush into her house for her camera but when she came back out the object had gone. She believes my story 100% as I do hers.

My experience was within weeks if not days of an 'earthquake' measuring 3.6 which shook houses throughout the area accompanied by a loud rumble which lasted several seconds, the epicentre of which is only a few miles away, at a place called Coniston. One of my very creditable workmates said that, as he and a friend came out of a pub in the nearby area, fair enough they had had a few, they observed "two orange balls of light" above Coniston which they thought were very strange. They carried on observing the lights, as they chatted for several minutes, until the lights simply disappeared. This accompanied with some very strange whether patterns and all being around the same time is beginning to become quite a concern or perhaps just very interesting to me. If anyone can tell me what the orange ball of light is, you will be doing me and my overactive mind a massive favour.

Please don’t say, "Oh, it could be ball lightening," or something like that. I want to know the truth.
