Bright light over Manhattan

I was watching the sky and saw a light with a small light trail traveling from south to north on the west side of Manhattan near Columbus cirlce. The light was bright white light not blinking traveling much faster than a commercial airline. It was flying much higher in the sky than when I normally see aircraft.
