A Sphere in the sky that disappeared in a matter of seconds the size of the Moon

Even this happen many years ago it has been imbossed in my mine. One afternoon I was stuck in traffic on High St. in Oxford, headed for a London computer show. While looking around, I noticed what appeared to be the Moon. It was off to my right looking out the windshield. I thought to myself the Moon should be behind me. I turned to look for it, and sure enough it was in the expected location. I looked back where I saw the White colored Sphere. It was still in the same position for about 20 seconds and then just started to accelerate out of sight in a matter of a few seconds. It appeared to be the size of the Moon, but I had no reference to establish the size.
