At first glance I thought it was a shooting star but it caught my eye and moved in a straight line and seemingly not with the curvature of the Earth. It was unlikely that it was a plane because of the way it disappeared and there was not a cloud in the sky. The sky was clear. Although I'm willing to admit that it could have been my eyes playing tricks on me, I've observed many a shooting star and it was very uncharacteristic.
