The change instantly change of position by 1000 of feet

Glowing pulsating orb floating close to the ground center the single RR tracks . probably 300 yards north were I was standing. Instantly it appeared I would say 5000 feet above. At 12 years old I am studying this light now high in the sky. I would say a couple of minutes went by I looked down and center the railway it was only maybe 20 yards away still hovering above the tracks . Never saw it coming but now it was 10 feet away I felt like I was standing in a room of transformer. I would say a 4 foot diameter. To this day I am not sure if the one that got close was the same as the one I was focused on . I do not remember moving myself from the crossing into my house, But last thing I remember was standing in the kitchen telling my mother what I just saw!
