A white-bright light moving to the South-East disapearing after ejecting a white vopor-like cloud ahead of itself.

A white-bright light moving to the South-East disappearing after ejecting a white vapor-like cloud ahead of itself. The object may have been thousands of feet above the surface of the Earth. The light was steady (never blinked) and there were no signs of other parts (only one light) and no other colored lights for navigation such as red for port and green for starboard. The object could easily be mistaken for a star or a planet but those do not move much relative to a ground observer. The object seemed to "hide" on occasion behind a vapor-like cloud in an intermittent fashion. There were no natural clouds this evening, so these "small" clouds - surrounded the object - but did not obscure it completely. Once the object reached what could be estimated as due South - the object appeared to have "shot" or "fired" forward (ahead of itself) a vapor-like cloud much larger than the object itself. Once the vapor-like cloud moved forward, ahead of the object, the cloud dispersed and spread thin until it vanished while at the same time the object "caught-up" with the vapor-like cloud and disappeared completely.
This event was all very strange.
