Bright orange trail which then seemed to disappear, and reappear as a milky or cloudy orb in the sky still traveling South..lost sight.

Around 6:45 pm saw a very distinct rocket-like object trailing a very bright orange/redish trail. It was traveling slowly across sky over ocean heading South. After a minute or two, it seemed to burn out/disappear completely, but a minute or so more the object I saw became a still traveling cloudy like orb, somewhat of a large oval blob pattern, still moving South.
