I saw a bright light above the tree line, and it disappeared when I looked away

I was driving home when I noticed a bright light above the tree line, I thought it was a star, but it was orange and too bright to be a star. I watched it in the sky before I started to veer off the road, when I looked at the road to straighten out and turned back, it was gone.
