cannot give critical details in one sentence only ...

Growing up, i spent an inordinate amount of time, late at night with my binoculars, telescopes, star charts, etc...staring at the sky for many enjoyable hours.

One specific night in 1965, I believe it was sometime in the fall. The sky was crystal clear, and the stars and planets were blazing. I had all my equipment out and was scanning the sky—naked eye—looking for my next conquest. When something caught my eye. Looking straight up and off to the side of my vision, I noticed the stars disappearing. I didn’t know what to make of it. I stood and stared and watched this happen. And the more I stared at this strange event, I began to see the faint outline of a very large triangle, slowly and silently approaching overhead from the northeast traveling southwest. It covered a good 15 degrees of the sky. It came directly over my head and abruptly stopped.

The entire movement was strange. It moved sort of like a projection or a video game (which at that time there weren’t any). I was frozen; couldn’t move. I knew what I was witnessing was the height of weirdness. I also was breathing heavy, and my legs were like rubber. I couldn’t move! While watching this transpire, the point of the triangle that was facing southwest actually separated by a couple of degrees, and that specific area was sort of out of focus while the rest remained as it were.

Strange… but, all that was running through my head was—I hope they can’t see me. Then I began thinking… are they letting something out, dropping something? I didn’t know… As I was staring, transfixed, after a time (don’t know how long) the two sides closed, and it slowly began traveling southwest again. The movement was not natural—very hard to put into words… it just wasn’t right. Also, as it traveled, it appeared to move in an arc as it traveled further away until disappearing low in the southwestern horizon. Again—just like a video game.

I also don’t know how long from start to finish this actually lasted. I tried hard thinking about it, but it could have been anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes or so—it’s difficult to say exactly. After this incident, I tried to walk to my back door and was having great difficulty. My legs were rubber and didn’t want to move… I do remember leaving all my equipment out there for hours. I was very shaken up and didn’t go out again to retrieve it until it was almost sunrise.

In all this time, I have only told 4 people about this incident. That was my first strange incident… I was going to have two more very strange experiences… that happen to be all spaced 7 years apart.
