Driving west bound, my daughter and I saw what seemed like

Driving westbound, my daughter and I saw and were discussing "what is that light?". It was large and bright white behind what appeared to be shifting clouds, then suddenly it wasn't there and we could see it was a perfectly clear sky with not a cloud in the sky! We were discussing it was possibly a crescent moon we couldn't see the entire length of, too bright to be a star, seeming to be shrouded in thick clouds cover.
