Orange light in the sky

three adults were standing outside my house when we noticed an orange light above leverhouse school ,we watched as it followed the m6 southbound motorway moving in a straight line but the speed seemed to be variable,the sighting was about 2 minutes long before it disappeared ,the evening was clear and we saw no navigation lights or sound [as from aircraft] .
