Large, linear flying object traveling at low level that disappeared suddenly

A UFO was sighted while walking Eastward on Baltimore avenue between 46th and 45th streets. Object was observed by reporting party and partner. Object was intensely bright, traveled in a direct linear fashion and immediately disappeared following a ~5 second trail. Object was traveling far too fast for a plane or satellite, and was much larger and brighter and followed a more linear flight trajectory than a comet or asteroid. Object could not be seen after vanishing. Object appeared to be a circular ball of light with a trail.
