Saw odd colors and geometric shapes from 30,000 feet in an airplane

I was traveling from Las Vegas, Nevada to Syracuse, NY via plane. About 1.5 hours from landing I saw odd colors and geometric shapes peaking through the clouds. Nothing on land would have shined so bright through the clouds.
