My girlfriend and I witnessed 3 or more lights chasing each other around in random patterns before disappearing over the mountains

We were looking out the window when my girlfriend pointed out these strange balls of lights that were chasing each other around, they flew around randomly then 1 of them split into 2 and then there was 3 of them chasing around until they went over the mountain
