I saw a color changing light shoot through the sky (in daylight) at the speed of a shooting star, and then instantly disappear.

I stepped outside around 7:00 pm (still broad daylight). My wife was 2 steps behind me. I looked up in the sky and a light was flying through the sky at tremendous speeds like that of a shooting star. The light started out green, then turned purple and then orange. I told by wife to look and by the time she reached the door, it had instantly disappeared. This all happened in less than 3 seconds.
