Triangle hovering and when moving rapidly changing direction

This was when I was a child. Late 80s - early 90s. Frequent sightings by entire family.

We were out at night often playing in a field next to the house to see the fireflies that gathered there. It was a low population farm town consisting of mostly fields.

Many times we saw 1 or 3 objects in the sky (always single or a group of three). We saw them moving very fast in the sky, they were far enough to look small but close enough to see the lights make the shape of triangles. I remember my parents appearing panicked when the objects changed direction (90°) suddenly with no apparent loss of speed nor an arc in the pattern.

This is something we saw regularly for a year or two.

One night, I was outside sitting on the trunk of the car sharpening a stick with a pocket knife. I felt a kind of pressure in my ears/head and everything got early l weirdly quiet. I noticed something above me but couldn't figure it out at first. After a few moments of my brain trying to process what it was seeing, I realized there was something very very large above me, blocking the sky. My child-brain saw it as something that looked like a giant microchip or a surface made up of thousands of small reflective squares all angled differently. It felt close enough that I might have been able to reach up and touch it.

I tried to scream for my parents but couldn't, because of fear and muscles tensing up, I assume. Within a few seconds, I rolled off the car and ran inside screaming. At this point the unexplained lights were a common topic and my parents quickly ran outside after I said something probably along the lines of "the lights are on the ground". When they came out they saw three object moving away in the sky at higher than usual speed and suddenly disappear.

I don't remember seeing them anymore after that.

I spent decades thinking it was all something else that the mind of child didn't know how to understand and this is just what my brain came up with. Or military testing because it was such a low population area. But I've recently seen a video, and it's exactly the same as what we saw in the sky many times. And upon looking into it further, there are others who reported experiences that are so much like what I remember.

I don't know what it was. But now it's added to the documentation of when and where.
