NUFORC Sighting 176086

Occurred: 1997-02-01 02:00 Local - Approximate
Reported: 2023-06-01 19:29 Pacific
Duration: about 2 or 3 minutes
No of observers: 1

Location: Terrace, BC, BC, Canada
Location details: Agar Avenue and Phole Avenue 4900 block

Shape: Triangle
Characteristics: Lights on object

I observed a black triangle, a soft coal-grey that blended seamlessly into the starlit night sky. It was the UFO's ability to block out the stars that first caught my attention.

The UFO had a faint, subtle glow, almost cloaked, with numerous lights on its underside. These lights were offset from the trailing back edge of the craft, numbering between 12 to 18 by my estimate. They appeared to be located over 100 feet in from the trailing edge.

As a surveyor, I estimate the tip-to-tip underside outline to be about 60 degrees; it was not 45 degrees and not 75 degrees. The craft was moving slowly westward, navigating both lower and upper terrain. Mountain peaks, ridges, and lower hills surrounded my position in a wide valley at an estimated elevation of 220 to 240 feet MSL.

Based on the UFO's flight path, its elevation could have been between 3000 and 5500 feet above MSL. If it followed a westerly path, it would need to be at least 5500 feet high, but it could safely maintain 4000 feet if it followed the valley.

The craft's slow movement could be explained by the nearby mountain peaks. This would be a safety precaution to avoid the mountains and justify its slow speed. Based on my calculations, each edge of this equilateral triangle-shaped craft was over a mile long.

The UFO was moving incredibly slowly and subtly; it was so inconspicuous that it was hardly noticed at first. I was taking pole star shots over many nights and remember it being the early morning, possibly around 2 AM.

I have recorded the date in my diary, but I can't access it currently as it's in storage. The above date is just an estimate from memory. It could have been 1998, and the event likely took place between October and April.

This report may duplicate a previous one I filed. The most significant detail I recall was waking up to an incredibly bright light that illuminated my bunk. This intensity was beyond the brightness of lightning and lasted for about 2 to 3 seconds. I clearly heard two voices speaking precise English:

Female: "Do you think he can see us?"
Male: "No!"

Calculating the mass of the triangle using a rough specific gravity per meter cube of 1 metric tonne gave me an estimate varying upwards, including a staggering 1/4 billion metric tonnes. I based this calculation on assumed occupants, the metal structure, an advanced drive system, and potential cargo.

A mass of this magnitude would not be of this world. If such a massive object were on the ground, under gravity's influence, it would sink into a runway. Clay layers would be forced outwards, squirting into the city.

The most amazing aspect was the craft's drive system, which moved at a minimum walking speed to a jogging speed of no more than 8 miles an hour. All of these observations were made while I was standing in the middle of a clear, open road, with a clear view of the night sky and no vehicle traffic to obstruct my view.
