Looked like a star moving at right angles

I was a child - less than 10 years old probably. I told my father, but he didn't say much about it. It was a dark night. There were lots of stars. But this one moved at right angles, in straight lines. It didn't stop for more than a second or less before making another straight line. I've always wondered about it. But this is the first time I've "officially" reported it.
