A very large, glowing, constantly changing iridescent oval-like shape came in from the water

Myself and a friend were on a rooftop deck near the water during the weekend of celebrations for the bicentennial of the War of 1812 - there had been stealth bombers in the area doing drills for the festivities. The evening following, I had gotten off work late and was smoking a cigarette on a rooftop deck with a friend while others were hanging out inside. Neither of us had been drinking or using drugs. A very large, glowing, constantly changing iridescent oval-like shape came in from the water (there were lots of tiny triangles that were helping the shape constantly change - almost like a 3D animation model) - it had just rained, so there were many low clouds, and it almost looked like a glowing, gyrating cloud. It came in from the actual clouds and disappeared into some clouds. It was flying very slowly, probably only 50 feet above the 3rd story roof deck. It was probably 30 feet long and 15 feet high. It was very quiet. Both my friend and I tried to take pictures/video, but it was too dark to get any kind of image. Because the stealth bombers were in town, we thought it might be a government thing, but it was far too beautiful compared to the clunky planes I've seen as "stealth." It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in person. I have no idea what I saw, but both my friend and I are sure that it happened.
