I was outside the front door , looked toward the East and saw a red pulsing light.

I was outside the front door , looked toward the East and saw a red pulsing light. (It was at this point that I called to my wife from outside the house, she was inside watching TV. She rushed outside to see what I was looking at.) It appeared stationary, then it appeared to climb and accelerate slowly South bound. It halted then flew straight up and pulsed 4 times then it disappeared. It made no sound. The night was clear, no cloud cover. I could see the stars clearly. The object appeared over my nieghbors house looking east. My wife and I work at 2 seperate semi-conductor plants as operators. We were both in the Service, my wife a Marine, and I was a Sgt in the USAF.
