NUFORC Sighting 152092

Occurred: 2019-12-22 17:40 Local
Reported: 2019-12-23 21:39 Pacific
Duration: 7 seconds
No of observers: 1

Location: Barrington, NH, USA

Bright "star" moving very slowly near Polaris accelerates slightly and quickly fades out.

I was outside looking at the stars and saw a bright looking star, about as bright as Venus just West Southwest of the North Star. I didn't remember any bright stars or planets in that part of the sky, and it seemed to be moving barely detectably South Southeast. After a few seconds, maybe 5, I was sure it was moving, I think moving a little faster, then it definitely was moving, possibly a slight change in direction towards east as it quickly faded, over about a second or two.
