Was on the porch to check the weather. Saw what I thought was a helicopter, but was TOTALLY silent. Reddish in color.

Moving South to North, when object turned and went 180 degrees (going South again). STOPPED.

Started blinking bright yellow, and quickly descended toward the ground. A minute later a jet went slowly over the object's flight path (South to North).

Could not judge distance of object, or distance in sky.
