There were lights on the object

Was sitting in car seen two bright lights, one red one white, nothing strange as toronto.international airport is north of my location, lights approached and got brighter, but seemed to get slower to almost a stop, opened window looked at it thinking it was in dstress, it then headed west suddenly,attempted to locate it, gone.
