The red lighted object was seen slowly flying over the sky north of Carlinville, Illinois towards the small town of Nilwood, and flew towards the east before quickly fading.

The sight it was over was an area locals for years have reported similar lights, including reports of an airship and it's pilots landing in adjacent fields during the 1800's as reported by the local newspapers at the time.
