Red and white lights sphere figure stayed in the same spot for four hours in my backyard.

Walked out back to smoke a cigarette around 1:00am and i could see a sphere shape object with red and white lights flicking on and off and i thought it was a plane at first but it wouldnt move and i could see it above the trees. I couldnt see and walked back outside around 4:00 am and it was still there. I went to sleep and i ended up having a dream about it.
