White light spotted over old Route 66 outside McLean

While driving north on old US 66 ( parallel to I-55) right as I was about to enter Funks Grove, I spotted a bright white light coming up out of the trees ahead of me, about a mile and a half away.

It was an overcast night and the object slowly rose up from the trees and up above the road. It continued it's ascent over the course of 5 to 10 minutes before going into the clouds above Shirley.
