A mysterious shooting star heads straight for our car but dissapears before it hits us.
We were headed towards Alcova,WY, on highway 220 from Rawlins, Wy. My husband and I were talking about the stars: he had found the little dipper so we decided to look for the big dipper. Just as we looked out of the front passenger window, we saw a shooting star. It was round, blue, and the brightest one we had ever seen. It seemed to be going a lot slower than a shooting star usually does. Not super slow but noticeably slower and it seemed to be shooting down towards us.
All of a sudden it started glowing orange like it had caught on fire, and there was an orange trail behind it. I started to get scared, because I thought it was going to hit us, going that fast and traveling down toward us like that, but before it got any closer it was gone. We didn't here a crash or see any bright lights. It just disappeared.
We went online looking for anything about a meteor hitting but we never found anything.
This lasted about 7 to 9 seconds.
