I was driving home from a late night at work. As I neared My home, I noticed what I thought to be a bright star or planet in the western sky.

As I was watching this very bright object, I thought I saw a small red dot appear then disappear a distance away. Thinking that I must have surely imagined it but it was so weird looking I pulled over onto a gravel road, sitting on a hill, parked my vehicle, turned off the lights and just watched. Object itself seemed to be red in the center with a white field floating around it. Occasionally, the red point in the center would get very bright and appear to radiate and change the outer field to a red color momentarily. The detached red light appeared a ways a way twice more in the time I was watching this occur.

After a period of ten minutes or so, the red light in the center got very bright several times in rapid succession. At this time, the halo like field around the red light seemed to consolidate with the center light.

What happened next was what really convinced me that what I saw had no natural or man-made explanation. The now singular light split into a 3 small points of light, one red, one white, an another appeared to be a greenish, or blue. Then all three lights in a perfect 60, 60 60 triangle all increase in intensity and went all red, an just disappeared. There were no clouds near enough to this object for it to disappear behind, while it was very slowly moving southward during the time I observed this, I am sure it didn't move. It was simply gone like someone flipped off a switch.
