Two bright, white lights were seen in formation, and possibly exiting Earth's atmosphere, late Au. 2nd over the Salt Lake Valley.

There were two bright lights in the sky at about 11:20 pm over the Salt Lake valley. They were seen from south-eastern Salt Lake. They initially looked like airplanes, but they did not blink, were much brighter, bigger, and followed each other in close formation. They were traveling north. After 30 seconds, the lead began to appear smaller and slowly dimmed, as though it was increasing distance from the earth's surface. The second light followed exactly the same trajectory and pattern of dimming. An attempt was made to use a cell phone video camera to record the event, but the two lights were gone before the camera was even running. The whole sighting lasted about two minutes. The lights seemed to follow the same path as planes approaching the airport from the south, but appeared to be higher than planes would be found and "increased distance from earth" well before getting near the airport. There was also no sound.

The witnesses were a young married couple (20s & 30s) who had just returned home from a movie. The lights were bright white and were seen from the witnesses' apartment parking lot.
