3 spheres darting around that merged into one that zoomed off

I was out in gulf looking back at beach, not sure how far out but I was chest deep in the water. 3 opaque metallic bronze colored spheres were darting around in the sky right over the tree line. saw them for just a few seconds. then they merged into one slightly larger sphere that shot of at a 30 degree angle and disappeared. they werent glowing or shiney.
