A very bright orb/sphere decended down and hovered right in front of us and it also made a loud humming noise

In the early 1980's after we moved to 40 Home Close, Bltechley, Milton Keynes, myself my sister and two friends were playing outside around our house. It was around 9pm and dark. There is a coppage across the road from the house and we were suddenly startled by a humming sound that sounded unlike anything I've ever heard and never heard again since. We looked up in the direction of the noise and saw what can only be described as a very bright white ball of light that was around the size of a large car hovering above the tree tops. It was most definitely watching us and was moving across the tree tops even breaking large branches off the trees. Its movement was very controlled and precise. The noise was loud but not of an engine. It was pure humming and definitely not a helicopter because when it flew away, it flew up at a speed I simply cannot describe other than ultra fast. Nothing of anything I have ever seen move that fast. It actually scared me at first because it was unearthly and my sister to this day still says she has absolutely no idea what it was all these years later. Its haunted me (in a positive way) ever since and I'll be shocked if nobody else saw that. We live very close to Bletchley Park and at the time, it was a no access area and very high security. I have wondered if it was connected in any way but then how it shot into the sky was just bizarre and at that speed, would have been well out of our atmostphere in no time.
