Orange/red glowing disk zig zagging slowy behind apartments nearby

I was 5, it was bedtime, was sent up to bed, I laid down staring out the window and saw a disk shaped craft, I thought it looked like the lost in space UFO, had a beveled dome on top. It slowly zig zagged behind a neighboring building. It was maybe 100yds away. Ran downstairs to tell my mom, she sent me back to bed thought I was lying.
