shiny white/silver round object near Mt Rose (lake tahoe area)

Was on the Mt Rose Highway that runs from Reno, Nevada to California (tahoe area). Was about 8,000 feet up. Husband driving. I really did not like this winding road! To the North, I saw a round shiny silver/white ball hovering over one of the mountain peaks. Approximately the size of a large helicopter. I didn't say anything to husband since I did not want him to take eyes off of this very winding road. Watch for approximately 1 minute before we moved around a curve and lost sight through the trees. It just hovered
