Saw a cylindrical object that was stationary and it disappeared

Our family was visiting a vendor fair on a ranch at this location. I looked up at the sky and saw a dark gray/black cylindrical object. At first I thought it might be an eagle or a hawk flying. But then I noticed it was stationary. Also, it was too big to be a bird. Immediately my mind went to drones. I thought that maybe someone was filming the event. But it wasn't shaped like any drones I have seen. I took a few steps to the side, briefly looked down, and then looked back up to get another look at it. It was still there. Within seconds after locking eyes on it again it disappeared. Poof! The best way I can describe the way it disappeared: it reminded me of how Frodo disappeared in LOTR when he puts the Ring Of Power on.
