Thought it was a meteorite until it changed direction.

On my back porch around 9:20pm and saw a white bright light falling from east to west like a meteorite at a 45-degree angle thinking it will burn out, yet it changed direction to vertical in a second and appeared to veer due south in a heartbeat and disappeared. My first thought was a jet with after burnings on, yet I heard no noise, and it happened way to fast to be a jet. The 45-degree descent was like watching a meteorite until the change of direction..
