Slight illumination that went to a sold almost invisible black

Initialy noticed the formation moving slowly towards me and right over head.
Appeared to have a dull illumination but became a solid black circlewith slight illumination again and the back to solid black. The solid circle appeared almost invisible but i could still see the contours where it blocked out the sky/stars above it. It looked round, about the sige of a small baseball field. There was no sound and it was much higher then the trees but lower then planes generally fly.
