Saw a massive light in the sky that seemed masked by clouds yet it is a cloudless night

Looked west/northwest of my yard and saw a massive bright light over the mountains. I thought it was a plane but it made no sounds and had no blinking marker lights. It was extremely bright in the center with a dark oval around it. As it approached I began recording on my phone and had to reset the angle. As it approached closer I could feel static in the air and tasted pennies in my mouth and everything smelled like copper. There are no clouds in the sky and it seemed like it was surrounded by its own personal cloud. As it got overhead the light went from white to grey blue and it began to slow down. The light dimmed and the oval light changed to darker blue tentaclelike beams that were sporadic. Between the tentacles it was as if the entire thing was draped in a silk mesh haze as it began to "swim" overhead. The lights seemed to evaporate entirely before vanishing. I recorded another minute of video and then stopped the recording. As soon as I stopped recording my phone screen turned red and gave an error message saying "unable to process" and the phone restarted. This is the second time seeing this object overhead.
