Two Craft enter atmosphere, hovers in place then disappears.

Two crafts, that we could see, came down, vertically through the atmosphere. Once they stopped moving, they looked like long ovals with light or energy all around it. The second craft was further away from the first one that we noticed. Then in unison, the objects stopped and hovered in place for about 8-9 minutes. And then the second, further away object, disappeared from our line of sight due to cloud coverage. Then there was a burst of light and the one we could still see got brighter for a second then seemed to ejects energy away from it before it faded and disappeared completely.
