I saw a glowing orange object in the night sky

I went out to check water well during freeze and at first I thought I saw moon but it was dark orange, glowing and appeared to be moving up over tree line and towards my direction. I got scared and ran inside. When I peaked outside a minute later it was gone. I didn't get a great look at it because I was so frightened.
