Observed light over the Gulf of Mexico that was preceded by cloud/mist travelling North to South parallel to the coast.

The single object travelled north to south parallel to the beach. Approximately < 1 mile from shore. There was no sound. It appeared to be a white light preceded by a cloud/mist. It lasted approximately 5 minutes and dissipated into the night sky. It was witnessed by 3 adults from a west facing window.
