My wife and I saw 2 balls af light east north east at about 20 to 30 degrees above the horizon that would move in random directions

We saw 2 balls of light moving in random directions, disappearing and reappearing for approximately 30 minutes.
We've since experienced the same phenomenon on 3 separate occasions twice at nags head and once at Ocracoke where a single ball came within 200 meters of our position then proceeded upward and became 2 separate balls then vanished. This sighting lasted about 20 to 30 minutes.
