Saw an orange globe that disappeared

This happened the night of my high school graduation, which is why I remember the date. After the graduation ceremony, we had an all night chem-free party to go to that the school put on at the local YMCA. We had roughly a half hour between the end of the ceremony and the time we had to get on the bus to leave for the YMCA. So in that time, we decided to go to our friends house to smoke cigarettes. We always stood outside of the door to his mom's house in the back yard. We were in a circle, and there was an empty lot that met the property line behind the house. The property line on either side of the house had pine trees. Me and (friend 1) were standing side by side, facing 3 other friends in a circle talking. I looked up and just at the edge of the pine trees at the end of the property line, was an orange globe hovering in a clear sky. At first it looked like a harvest moon in the sky and thought it weird because it was May. I looked in the sky to my left (East/NE) and there was already a crescent moon in the sky. My head whipped back to the orange globe, and before I could point or say anything, it disappeared. It didn't leave a trail or anything, no sound, it was just like a black curtain was pulled in front of it and it was just dark sky. I stood in silence for about a minute before I turned to friend 1 who was standing to my side and said "Did you fucking see that orange thing in the sky?" And he freaked out thinking what he saw was an illusion or his eyes playing tricks on him, but he saw the exact same thing I did. Never saw anything like that again.
