Object floating in sky just below the clouds then it zipped across the sky instantaneous leaving a trail of light across the sky.

Circle of light floating in the sky just below the clouds instantaneously zipped across the sky leaving a trail of light across the otherwise dark desert sky. Just like the jump to light speed in a science fiction movie. It was like a shooting star but it was in our atmosphere moving parallel to the earths surface.
