What appeared like a normal satellite drifted across the night sky, then completed three circular turns, then stopped.

My cousins and I as kids regularly went to our aunt's and uncle's river house at the Lost Lake Resort in northern Blythe, California. We usually arrive after midnight and it was almost tradition for us to immediately take this golf cart we have off-roading into the desert. Sometime a few days before the Beijing 2008 Olympics (that's how I remember the date) when I was 13 years old, we arrived and two of my cousins and I took the golf cart out. Both of my cousins sat in the front and I sat alone in the back, staring at the night sky illuminated with stars. Before we began off-roading, we were still driving within the perimeter of the resort on flat road, so I know no shakiness of the terrain could have caused what I saw. I noticed what appeared to be a satellite, a small dot of white/slightly bluish light, drifting normally across the night sky for approximately 30 seconds, until it banked off the long axis it was traveling, completed three perfect circles, diameter approximately 10 times the width of the object, and stopped exactly at the point it diverted off of its course, still illuminated. There was only one object which I think was headed N/NE, and the turns lasted only about three to four seconds in total. I immediately shouted to my cousins to stop the cart to explain what I saw and pointed so they could see, however nothing else happened after that and we continued on. I'm sure they heckled me a bit, but I know what I saw. To this day, that is the weirdest, most unexplainable thing I've ever witnessed in my life.
