extremely bright, large crescent-shaped object hovered in southeast sky for 30 minutes before sunrise

At about 5:30 a.m., I noticed an extremely bright object in the East/Southeastern sky. It was nearly as large as a harvest moon, but crescent-shaped. Or maybe I could only see the lower part of an orb, couldn't tell.

The light from the object was so bright it was hard to look at. It cast a shadow inside the house when I held up my hand. It remained largely motionless, but slowly drifted a bit to the south so that it was no longer shining directly through my window.

It wasn't beaming light down, but instead was glowing brightly.

It remained in roughly the same spot for at least 30 minutes. I didn't see it leave, but it was gone by the time the sun started brightening the sky.

This is the second time I have seen a bright motionless object in roughly the same spot of the sky. The first time was in October 2019, but that object was smaller and shaped more like a wasp. That object also lingered for more than 20 minutes, and sometimes swelled slightly in size and brilliance, then shrank back. When it left, it shrank in on itself as if disappearing into a hole.

Both times, the objects appeared on nights where there was little moonlight but an abundnce of stars and very clear conditions.
