Bright, glowing red light transitions from hover to clearing the horizon in seconds .

Late one night while I was in high school, I was leaving a friends house and driving on a remote back road to get home. Upon rounding a corner on the back road a Bright-Glowing red object was exposed in the sky. I could not estimate how far this object was away from me but I pulled over to look at it. It appeared to be the size of the moon, so it was likely within miles of me. The red light coming off this object was glowing and radiant, it looked really amazing. After about 2 or 3 minutes of watching this object, it rapidly accelerated over the horizon. When I say it rapidly accelerated over the horizon, I mean it covered at least 30 miles within about 2 seconds. That's when I knew what I saw was abnormal. The next day, I was obviously excited and was telling everybody. Most people didn't believe me, or just dismissed it. However, when I told my dad he explained to me that his co-worker had told him that morning about how he had seen it too. I have worked i! n the aviation field for years now and still haven't found a good explanation for this sighting.
